Education within the ACPSEM

ACPSEM strongly believes that education is essential in developing and maintaining standards in the workplace. You will find in this area information on clinical education (training), Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and academic education (universities).

Clinical Education

The ACPSEM considers that a medical physicist training program is essential for the development of the profession, as well as for the recruitment of new medical physicists. To this end the ACPSEM, through the Specialty Interest Groups and the Professional Standards Board, have developed training programs in nuclear medicine, radiation oncology and radiology. The standard program is expected to take 4 to 5 years, but may be shorter if exemptions are granted. For more infomation see Clinical Training.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Over 100 participants are already participating in the ACPSEM CPD Program, but we need more! Participation is open to all College members. While currently participation is completely voluntary (except for people who are on the Medical Physicist Register who will soon be required to log their points), participation will allow you keep track of your CPD activities and compare your CPD points with other users. For more infomation see Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Academic Education (Universities)

ACPSEM accredited university programs cover both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. For more information see University Programs.
