ACPSEM Accredited Courses

A compulsory component of a physicist's education and training to become a qualified medical physicist specialist accredited in a particular specialty area is the acquisition of an appropriate postgraduate degree in medical physics. The responsibility of providing this educational component is devolved from the profession to the universities.

The ACPSEM accredits the postgraduate courses of study to ensure their suitability in preparing physicists with the necessary depth and breadth of knowledge required to assist with their clinical training. Candidates embarking on a career in medical physics should ensure that they enrol in an accredited course of study, while universities interested in attracting such students should make it a high priority to meet the professional needs of the medical profession.

The postgraduate degree in medical physics would normally be at the Masters level, but may be a PhD or some other postgraduate degree accepted by the ACPSEM. It will contain components for Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology.

The following universities have received ACPSEM accreditation for post-graduate courses in Medical Physics suitable for the purposes of TEAP requirements. List of accredited universities
