TEAP for Radiology

The TEAP (Training, Education and Accreditation Program) is a fairly new scheme run by ACPSEM, linking academic and medical institutions, and supporting the employed radiology medical physicist registrar towards eventual accreditation and registration as a fully qualified skilled professional who is deemed to be able to work independently without supervision.  It is a structured, formal training program and, along with on the job mentoring and guidance, takes about 3 to 5 years,  followed by written and practical exams.  The program has been running since 2003.

Registrars accepted into the TEAP mostly come from accredited academic and medical institutions.  The ACPSEM  has a small team of staff assisting Radiology TEAP.  The registrars are currently charged a pro-rata fee for the first year, depending on when they started, then charged per calendar year.  Some employers do pay these fees for the registrar.

Registrars undergo  annual reviews but must have paid their fees prior to having an annual review.
Registrars do not have to be members of the ACPSEM to be part of TEAP but do receive a substantial discount.
