About the Branch:

Our aims are:

  • To represent the interests of medical physicists, radiopharmaceutical scientists and biomedical engineers in NSW and ACT

  • To act as a resource for ACPSEM members in professional matters

  • To further the education of members through scientific meetings, lectures and workshops

  • To inform members of relevant activities via a newsletter and regular meetings

  • To represent the interests of the NSW and ACT members of the ACPSEM in ACPSEM Council via the chairperson

  • Annually review the practice and achievements of the committee

  • To be constituted and carry out branch affairs in accordance with the ACPSEM college articles and with the provisions of the by-laws from time to time in force


Branch Activities / Initiatives:

BgRT - 13 February 2026
Biologically Guided Radiation Therapy Symposium – in collaboration with Institute of Medical Physics (University of Sydney)
Recent advances in imaging, particularly MRI and PET, biomarker development and AI have accelerated progress in the field. The 2026 symposium will include national and international keynote speakers, educational and scientific sessions and networking opportunities.


D&D -15 June 2026 
NSW/ACT Branch DIMPs and Development Day – in collaboration with HETI/NSW Health - hosted in St Leonards and online. 
The first D&D day event aimed to promote collaboration among DIMPs within clinics across NSW & ACT - providing a platform for sharing knowledge on clinical projects, challenges and developments as well as allowing networking amongst peers. 


R&D - 28 July 2026
NSW/ACT Branch Research and Development Day – in collaboration with Institute of Medical Physics (University of Sydney)
This event provides a valuable opportunity to showcase ongoing developmental projects within clinics across NSW & ACT with a goal to foster collaboration. As always, we will be inviting the community to share in house activities - it can be something as simple as commissioning a new piece of equipment or introducing a new treatment technique. The theme this year will be Adaptive Radiation Therapy.


MedPhys - Late 2026 (TBC):
In collaboration with Institute of Medical Physics (University of Sydney), this event offers students and registrars currently enrolled/working in NSW/ACT a platform to present research and clinical project work and is always a busy and interesting day, with ample opportunities for networking and discussions.

NSW/ACT Branch Educational Scholarship 2026
This scholarship is intended to help cover out-of-pocket expenses not reimbursed by an employer or institution. Eligible costs may include travel, accommodation, registration fees, and other expenses associated with attending educational activities.
