Our Work

The ACPSEM offers a number of services to professionals, students, hospitals, universities, governments, and other peak organisations on matters relating to the role of physical sciences and engineering in medicine.

We are responsible for the certification, registration and accreditation programs for our member professions, and set the professional standards that underpin them. We also engage with members and other similar representative associations and bodies to promote and regulate the science and practice of our field through advocacy and research, including the development of position papers and guidelines.

Our key aims are to:

  • Promote and encourage education and training in the physical sciences and engineering medicine
  • Improve and extend the scientific and technical knowledge and skills of persons engaged in our professions
  • Promote and further the development of the field of physical sciences and engineering in medicine itself
  • Represent medical physicists and engineers in Australia and New Zealand on matters relating to the application of physical sciences and engineering to medicine and to the overall betterment of our nation's health
  • Facilitate the exchange of information and ideas amongst both members of the College and those concerned with subjects concerning the physical sciences and medicine
