George Antoniou, Branch Chair
The SA/NT branch draws its membership from a diverse pool of professionals which include radiation oncology medical physicists, diagnostic imaging medical physicists, radiopharmaceutical scientists, academics and teaching staff, radiation protection practitioners, biomedical engineering, regulators, and other industry experts. Our branch shares the same mission and vision as the national body, acting as a bridge between its local members and the ACPSEM, however also with specific focus to issues relevant to South Australia and Northern Territory. The branch supports and organises continuing professional development activities.
The Branch Committee manages day-to-day operations and meets every second month to coordinate upcoming activities. Each year, we hold an Annual Meeting to discuss issues relevant to the various professional groups within our membership, whether those issues arise locally or come from the national body. We also host the Annual Student Paper Night, during which postgraduate students from local universities present their research. Prizes are awarded to encourage participation, with the broader aim of supporting and promoting research within our fields.
In addition to these long-standing events, this year we are planning a Professionals Paper Night, more radiopharmaceutical science–focused events, and CPD sessions dedicated to soft011skill development. Beyond formal professional meetings, the branch also fosters social connection among members by organising relaxed gatherings such as pool lounge evenings and after-work drinks.
