Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist, volunteer assignment(s) in CambodiaCalmette Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia has a radiotherapy centre that has been supported by APSIG volunteers since 2018. . The centre is commencing IMRT/IGRT techniques with their Varian linacs and have requested direct support through volunteer assignments. The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists have funding for a tripartite visit of RANZCR, ACPSEM and ASMIRT members to visit in August 2024. Funding for the ROMP and RT volunteers can possibly be for several weeks. APSIG is also in the process of organizing for a new ROMP trainer volunteer assignment in partnership with the Australian Volunteer program funded by the Australian government (DFAT). This will be starting in 2024 for up to 6 months which may be spread over multiple 1-2 month visits. The same person can apply for both assignments so if you are a certified Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist and would be interested in using your skills to help this radiotherapy centre, please contact Simon Downes below. Simon Downes Seeking Expressions of Interest to join Dosimetry Advisory CommitteeThe Gamma Guru’s Dosimetry Advisory Group, chaired by Leon Dunn, is an independent medical physics committee that is seeking new members from around Australia. The group’s focus is on providing clinical guidance and expertise regarding the development of existing and new radiotherapy audit programs. They meet once a month to discuss results, review documents and research, and develop new audits! This is an opportunity for CPD in the audits category.
