Job Description
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is recruiting four Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Registrars for fixed-term, full-time roles across its Bendigo, Box Hill, Melbourne, and Sunshine campuses. Working within a large, advanced Physical Sciences team, registrars will support radiotherapy services through equipment commissioning, QA, radiation safety, dosimetry and specialised treatment planning, with opportunities for research and tumour-stream involvement. Applicants must hold an ACPSEM-accredited Masters in Medical Physics and be eligible for the ACPSEM TEAP program. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with some after-hours work and inter-campus travel.

- 80 Hours per Fortnight with a Monthly ADO

About the Department
Our Physical Sciences team includes 41 medical physicists (including 5 in training). We provide essential physics support for all radiotherapy services at Peter Mac, including:
Commissioning and QA of equipment
Radiation safety
Clinical dosimetry
Planning support for specialised treatments (brachytherapy, stereotactic therapy, whole-body irradiation, IMRT/VMAT)
We offer extensive opportunities for clinically relevant research, particularly in the development and introduction of new imaging and treatment techniques. Physicists are also encouraged to participate in tumour-stream activities.
About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking four (4) Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Registrars, one at each of our locations:
Bendigo
Box Hill
Melbourne
Sunshine
Essential requirements:
A Masters degree in Medical Physics, accredited or approved by ACPSEM
Eligibility to enrol in the ACPSEM TEAP (Radiation Oncology) and a commitment to progress toward ROMP certification within 3 years (More information available at the ACPSEM website. http://www.acpsem.org.au)
This role may involve some after-hours or weekend work and occasional travel between Peter Mac sites.
Potential candidates should be capable of self-directed work and have excellent problem-solving skills. Good oral and written communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Appointment & Salary
Registrars without clinical experience will be appointed as Medical Physicist, Grade 1, with progression to Grade 2 (FF6) following a successful performance assessment.
Registrars with clinical experience may be assessed for direct appointment at Grade 2 (FF6).
