Job Description
We are seeking two ACPSEM registered Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists to lead the Treatment Planning and the Quality Assurance & Dosimetry portfolios within the department.The chosen candidate will integrate into the existing ROMP operational structure and be capable of leading a small team.
Candidates may indicate in their cover letter whether they wish to be considered across both portfolios or for a specific portfolio only.
Job Requirement
The Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist Advanced requires low levels of supervision, provides training to registrars, new staff members and other professional groups within the RO department. The successful candidate will be required to undertake management of development projects within the work unit. Participation and contribution in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, chart rounds and development meetings will be encouraged.
Provide high level advice, using evidence-based practice, to Radiation Oncologists and Radiation Therapists on the physics of one or more specialised areas in radiation oncology medical physics ensuring optimised patient treatment.
Display a high level of knowledge within specialised areas of radiation oncology medical physics, maintaining links with state, national and international centres and independent auditors to ensure best practice.
The QA and Dosimetry Lead hold operational responsibility for maintaining a Radiation Dosimetry standard traceable to ARPANSA, quality assurance of the Linear Accelerators, and the management of equipment breakdowns, including coordination of service engineers, in accordance with the ROMP Local Business Rules.
The Treatment Planning Lead holds operational responsibility for all external beam Treatment Planning System (TPS) software and hardware, associated TPS and patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) applications, asset management of CT and in vivo dosimetry systems, and the management of TPS related equipment breakdowns and software outages, including coordination of service engineers, in accordance with the ROMP Local Business Rules.
