Important ROMP TEAP Updates

ROMP TEAP Information

There are a couple of important updates that will be of interest to all ROMP TEAP registrars and supervisors - the first, an update to the CaSR guidelines relating to the use of AI and an updated cover sheet to submit with each report, and the second the release of the first RTRSIG curriculum companion documents and other resources.

Clinical and Scientific Reports Update

A new version of the ROMP Clinical and Scientific Report (CaSR) Guidelines has just been released (Version 1.4) and will be effective as of September 2026. These can be found in ALEX Clinical and Scientific Reports section. Changes since version 1.3 relate primarily to the use of Artificial Intelligence for CaSR reports and includes an updated statement about this as well as several new requirements, in particular:

• Registrars should retain all draft versions of the report including feedback from supervisors/trainers, and can provide if requested as part of the assessment process.
• Registrars must include a statement describing and acknowledging any AI tools used when conducting the project and/or preparing the report.
• Use of a new cover sheet with increased requirements for the supervisors to discuss different aspects of the work with their registrar prior to submission, to confirm their understanding of the technical, clinical and softskills aspects, as well as their appropriate use of AI tools.
• Registrars are asked to provide a statement of the word count when submitting their report (this excludes: tables, headings, references and sections disclosing AI use).

What about reports which are currently underway?

Any registrars who have a report currently in preparation will not be required to provide any early drafts but should aim to keep them going forward. All reports submitted from September 2026 should include a statement of AI use and wordcount, and use the new cover sheet - any reports submitted without these may be requested to add them before the reports are sent for assessment. Any concerns around the use of the new guidelines should be discussed with the TEAP Coordinators (teapcoordinators@acpsem.org.au).

Curriculum Companion documents

The ROMP TEAP Resources Special Interest Group (RTRSIG) is pleased to announce that some of the ROMP TEAP curriculum companion documents which we have been preparing are now released for use on ALEX. These are provided for each of Key Areas 2, 3, 4 and 6 (at this stage, KA5,7-9 coming soon) and provide an example scope of knowledge for each learning outcome. These may be helpful for registrars, supervisors and trainers to guide learning and assessment of registrars.

An additional RTRSIG developed Optional Supporting Work Examples Document is also provided for each main Key Area that contains examples of clinical or project work which may support learning. Please note that these suggested examples are by no means comprehensive, nor mandatory in any way - many more examples are provided than a registrar would be expected to do complete as part of their TEAP training, and there are plenty of other projects that would be equally as appropriate, however they may provide useful inspiration.

Important notes

1) Both the Companion and Optional Supporting Work Example Documents are not mandatory and are not required to be used to successfully complete TEAP. They have been developed and reviewed by RTRSIG members according to their best judgment and experience with TEAP, but have not been subject to the same level of scrutiny that official TEAP curriculum documents undergo.

2) Supervisors or Trainers can adapt according to their local training needs and their judgement. Registrars should follow their Supervisor's guidance when using these documents.

3) An earlier version was temporarily released on ALEX two months ago but the review and approval process was subsequently modified - if you spotted them at the time and have a copy in captivity please delete and replace with the current version.

Other RTRSIG Resources

The RTRSIG has also been very busy reviewing and in some cases creating other resources across all learning outcomes and there are many more at various stages of review. Where available, these will be found within each relevant learning outcome in ALEX. If you wish to be notified of these as they are released, we encourage you to join the RTRSIG by ticking the RTRSIG box within the ACPSEM SG, SIG and Branches Portal page of your My ACPSEM. We encourage all registrars, supervisors and trainers to join the SIG in this way, in order to stay informed. The release of subsequent companion documents for KA5, 7, 8 and 9 will also be notified via this means.

We are also very happy to take contributions of more TEAP training resources for review for inclusion - this is a great opportunity to help us build efficiencies in TEAP training, share your experience and work with others in the College, and get some peer review of your training practices.
