Biomedical Technology Services (BTS) is seeking an experienced (Senior) Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist to join one of our Brisbane-based teams.  BTS is a statewide provider of health technology management services within the Department of Health in the state of Queensland, Australia.

BTS has one of the largest networks of Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicists in Australia, covering both diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine practices based at eight (8) major hospitals, and one head office location.  There are currently 34 DIMPs employed by BTS, including 16 with ACSPEM Registration, and seven (7) TEAP candidates.

BTS services are primarily provided to public sector hospitals across Queensland.  BTS Medical Physicists specialise in diagnostic medical imaging health technology and radiation safety management, professional scientific consulting, clinical innovation, education and training, quality management and regulatory safety.

In this role you will be part of an experienced team of health practitioners providing diagnostic imaging medical physics services across a range of complex clinical environments. You will have the opportunity to play a leading role in the development and improvement of the medical physics services across Queensland Health.

This particular role is part of the Brisbane-based metropolitan medical physics network.  Initially the role is expected to be part of the BTS Central Operation team based at either of two locations, namely, Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) and/or our Coopers Plains facility.  The BTS Central team provides specialised diagnostic imaging services within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a team of six (6) other medical physicists, 2 x radiographers, 4 x imaging engineers and 6 x biomedical technicians.  Our vision is to support clinical outcomes through the application of physics, technology and engineering practices.  The clinical departments the team support includes:

  • Statewide BreastScreen Queensland Program
  • Queensland Children’s Hospital
  • Ipswich Hospital, and regional hospitals within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (HHS)
  • Toowoomba Hospital, and regional hospitals within the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (HHS).

The BTS network of Medical Physicists enables access to an extensive network of experienced staff with diverse clinical specialisations and interests, including children’s and women’s health, diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine practice, radiation protection and system optimisation initiatives.

BTS foster the development of our junior staff by providing professional development through the ACPSEM Training and Education Accreditation Program (TEAP).  There are also many opportunities to develop through the internal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.  To further support training and development, BTS has a Medical Physics Clinical Educator.
