Job Description
This is a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist position supervised by Senior Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicists.
Working under the close supervision of experienced medical physicists and as part of a small, motivated team, the employee will be involved in providing X-ray Safety Australia's clinical diagnostic imaging medical physics service.
The position could be a casual appointment or a full-time 3-month contract initially, depending on the applications received. Either way, it is likely to lead to a 3-year fixed term appointment and the opportunity to enter ACPSEM's TEAP Program, specialising in Diagnostic Radiology.
Under direction of experienced medical physicists, actively participate in routine quality assurance and acceptance and compliance testing of radiation equipment and premises. This involves travel in your own vehicle to client sites to undertake this work.
Under direction perform patient dose calculations and write reports for all modalities.
Under direction prepare shielding design reports for all modalities and inspect shielding during construction.
Under direction prepare dose and risk assessment reports for research studies.
Work from home when not required at client sites.

Job Requirement

- QLD or northern NSW based
- Citizen or permanent resident. Please do not apply otherwise
- Undergraduate degree in physics or equivalent
- Accredited M.Sc. or equivalent
- Sound radiation physics/safety knowledge and skills
- Excellent written and inter-personal communication and negotiation skills
- C-class drivers licence and own vehicle. Travel is paid at the ATO rate/km
- Proficient with MS Office and other common softwareDesirable:
- QLD use licence (desirable)
