Purpose of position:
To assist the Senior Medical Physics Specialist (Radiology) to provide services of a radiology physics nature to departments within WSLHD and to external contracted organisations that use ionising and non ionising radiation.
To assist the Radiation Safety Officer in the provision of ionising and non-ionising radiation safety to WSLHD.
To provide training in the safe use of radiation to relevant professions throughout the LHD ensuring patient and staff safety.
Job Requirement
Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Undergraduate degree in science with a major in Physics and full EPA CRE accreditation obtained within 6 months of employment.
Registration: ACPSEM Registration or Certification in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Radiology).
Selection Criteria:
- Undergraduate degree in science with a major in Physics (Postgraduate degree in physics/medical physics is desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology Physics including equipment testing, radiology radiation dosimetry, radiation shielding and radiation safety.
- Good working knowledge of computing environments and software.
- Demonstrated ability to produce work to a high professional standard within defined timelines.
- Highly developed verbal, written and electronic communication skills, including experience teaching to a range of professions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, working both independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing to work irregular hours (early or late) at times and possess or obtain within 6 months an unrestricted drivers licence valid in NSW.
Demonstrated ability to show initiative, have a flexible approach to service delivery, and prioritise amongst competing service requirements.
