Updates and awards from APSIG
At EPSM, the Asia-Pacific Special Interest Group (APSIG) hosted an exciting virtual trivia night and revealed the highly anticipated results of the APSIG Fun Run competition,
The trivia night runs annually as part of the EPSM conference's social activites, and proceeds raised help APSIG to provide radiotherapry services in under-resourced countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
This year's trivia night was won by "Team Axis" from Melbourne! Congratulations to the winners!
Runners up were "POWer grabbers" from Sydney and "Could you repeat that?" from Auckland in third place.
The APSIG Fun Run has three winners across the following categories:
- The best long course
- The best short course
- The popular vote via Instagram
Our Over 9km category winners were Peta Lonski and Tomas Kron from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, who carved out an impressive celebration of Melbourne during lockdown for their winning entry.
In the Under 9K category, the FunRun prize was awarded to Max Hanlon and his colleagues at Team Quality Melbourne, who travelled out an “APSIG” across Fitzroy Gardens to help raise funds for our Asia-Pacific RT support charity.
The winner of the Instagram people’s choice award was the Sir Charles Gairdner Radiation Oncology team and their penguin chase through Kings Park in Perth, WA.

This year the trivia night and the APSIG Fun Run raised over $3,500! Thank you to everyone who took part in these activities and to those who donated.
Additionally, the Elekta travel award was used to pay for around 20 scholarships for physicists from across Asia Pacific to attend the EPSM virtually.
