Job Description


We are looking to employ a Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist (ROMP) in a Permanent Full Time position based at our Moorabbin campus. The Physical Sciences department’s primary role is to provide support for Peter Mac’s radiotherapy services. This includes commissioning and quality assurance of equipment, radiation safety, clinical dosimetry, and planning of specialized treatments such as brachytherapy, stereotactic therapy, whole body irradiation and IMRT.

 

Peter Mac boasts a comprehensive range of imaging, planning and treatment equipment distributed across five sites, four city and one regional. This includes CT scanners with 4D imaging capability, PET-CT scanners, 16 linear accelerators, many of which are equipped with kilo-voltage imaging (including cone beam CT). The Physical Sciences department at Peter Mac comprises a group of 33 medical physicists (6 in training) and 4 biomedical engineers. 

 

There are many opportunities for clinically relevant research and development. Current multidisciplinary research projects are primarily focused on the clinical introduction of new imaging and treatment techniques.



Job Requirement


Applicants are required to have a post-graduate qualification in medical physics. Applicants are also expected to have completed all requirements to fulfil ROMP certification. Preference will be given to candidates on the ACPSEM register. This position will require some out-of-hours duties, which may include weekend work. Flexibility to work at other Peter Mac campuses is also required.
