Senior Medical Physicist – Moorabbin - Grade 4

Peter Mac boasts a comprehensive range of imaging, planning and treatment equipment distributed across five sites, four city and one regional. This includes 7 CT scanners with 4D imaging capability, PET-CT scanner, 16 linear accelerators, many of which are equipped with kilo-voltage imaging (including cone beam CT) and access to a wide range of nuclear medicine and radiology equipment.

The Physical Sciences department at Peter Mac comprises a group of 33 medical physicists (6 in training) and 5 biomedical engineers. The department’s primary role is to provide support for Peter Mac’s radiotherapy services. This includes commissioning and quality assurance of equipment, radiation safety, clinical dosimetry, and planning of specialized treatments such as brachytherapy, stereotactic therapy, whole body irradiation and IMRT. There are many opportunities for clinically relevant research and development. Current multidisciplinary research projects are primarily focused on the clinical introduction of new imaging and treatment techniques. Physicists are encouraged to engage in tumour stream activities.

Currently, we have an opportunity to employ a Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists (ROMP), to work at our Moorabbin site. Applicants are required to have a post-graduate qualification in medical physics. Applicants are expected to hold certification by ACPSEM or a recognised equivalent qualification and to be on the register of qualified medical physicists maintained by the ACPSEM. This position will require some out-of-hours duties, which may include weekend work. Flexibility to work at other Peter Mac campuses is also required.

Remuneration as per Victorian Public Health Sector (Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement – FF13 - MED PHYSICIST GR 4 YR1 & 2 ($154,642.80) to FF15 - MED PHYSICIST GR 4 YR5 ($182,650.00). Generous salary packaging options are also available.
