GenesisCare is currently seeking a Medical Physics Specialist for a position based in Newcastle, NSW.

As a Medical Physics Specialist, you are responsible for the provision of clinical physics and quality assurance services that ensure a safe, efficient and effective radiotherapy physics service including radiotherapy equipment commissioning, quality assurance, dosimetry and treatment planning.

Key areas for the role will be discussed and agreed with you and the Chief Physicist during the on-boarding process. This will be tracked periodically and discussed annually as part of the performance review process.

What youandrsquo;ll do:

  • Responsible for the safety and quality of clinical/non-clinical medical radiation equipment.
  • Provide specialist advice in the technical and scientific aspects of radiotherapy delivery and treatment planning within a specific clinical specialisation, including IGRT or VMAT.
  • Independently perform highly accurate routine and non-routine dosimetry and geometric quality assurance measurements on assigned radiotherapy.
  • Collect, process and analyse radiation beam data from radiotherapy equipment for entry into treatment planning systems.
  • Operate on Elekta and/or Varian platforms with VersaHD, GammaKnife, Unity MR-Linac, TrueBeam, Edge and Halcyon.
  • Perform independent monitor unit calculations and to be responsible for reconciling observed differences in the calculations.

Job Requirement

Who you are:

  • Applicants should have demonstrated exceptional clinical experience in routine and project work areas.
  • Advanced and specialist knowledge in radiotherapy physics.
  • Eligible to be on the ACPSEM Register of Qualified Physicists or commitment to be on the register within 12 months of appointment.
  • Candidates residing in Australia must have completed their TEAP program.
  • International candidates must have 5+ years demonstrated clinical working experience as a Medical Physicist.
  • Motivated to ‘make a difference’ and push personal boundaries to ensure the best treatment options are available to patients.
